Owner and Visionary, Frank Russo Jr.

Frank Russo, Jr. began his career at a young age, working with his father and uncle at the restaurant, Villa Russo, and Il Palazzo Catering Hall, learning each position from the ground up and gaining the shared knowledge of both successful men. “I always remember my father as a very hardworking, humble, family oriented man, always taking care of his customers, making sure that the restaurant was a home for them. From my parents I learned to respect others as you want to be respected, and always remember that your work is your most important thing”, says Russo.

This is where his love for the catering business began. Frank’s drive, work ethic and incredible passion for the business led him to turning his dreams into reality. In 1987, he expanded the business – opening the doors of Russo´s On The Bay in Howard Beach, New York, for the first time. For more than 20 years, Russo´s On The Bay has been a tradition for family and friends celebrating life´s most important moments, from weddings to social gatherings to corporate meetings. Professional banquet consultants are available to help select the services and menus that are right for every occasion. Chefs work diligently to create new recipes, seasonal menus, and the finest cuisine in the two kitchens and an in-house bakery.

PJ Connolly, General Manager and Sommelier

PJ Connolly, like many others on our team, began his restaurant career as a young man at Russo’s On The Bay over 23 years ago. While studying Accounting in college, PJ worked his way up through the ranks of Russo’s On The Bay holding many front of the house positions. Earning an honors degree from the New York Restaurant School in 1994, he quickly found himself amongst the management ranks at Russo’s On The Bay. PJ has continued his education in the hospitality industry earning a Sommeliers’ Certificate from the Sommeliers Society of America. In 2012 PJ and the wine team at Vetro were awarded with the prestigious 2 glass “BEST AWARD OF EXCELLENCE” from Wine Spectator magazine. For the last 6 years, he has played an integral part in the development and success of Vetro
